Information for Parents & Carers

At Clacks Courage, we support children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse — whether it happened recently or in the past.

We know how hard it can be when families are going through or recovering from abuse. You might still be figuring things out yourself — and that’s okay. Your child can still get support from us, even if you’re not ready (or able) to engage with services directly yourself.

Our focus is on the young person — making sure they feel safe, heard, and supported, in a way that works for them.

We offer:

🗣️ One-to-one emotional support

🎨 Sessions are creative and tailored to the individual's preferences

🧠 Help understanding healthy relationships and managing big feelings

🤝 Support to build confidence, resilience, and trust

Our team uses trauma-informed, child-centred approaches, always working at the young person’s pace. Your child will never have to discuss anything they are not comfortable with; all materials are tailored to be age-and stage-appropriate.

You can be referred by a professional, or you can get in touch with us directly. We’re happy to talk things through and help you decide what’s right for your child or the young person in your care.

You don’t need to have all the answers — just reaching out is a brave first step.
